The FRC joined with the Welcome to America Project to host a free clothing event for refugee families last Saturday, February 25th. WTAP is a network of volunteers who work with local social service agencies to support and welcome newly arriving refugee families with household goods, clothing, and friendship. The clothing event was held in the FRC cafeteria and run by volunteers, many in high school, with their parents. About 40 refugees were able to choose clothing, shoes, and toiletries. School board president Adam Lopez Faulk and Superintendent Yslas attended and met with families. Plans are forming already for the next clothing distribution date before the school year ends, for which Mr. Yslas hopes to be able to provide district transportation. A big thanks go out to Lynn Moriarty, Susana Huntley, Yvette Nava, Samuel Lavi, and Gilberto Arias for their support on Saturday. Go team FRC!
